My full name is Gordy Bonker THE SECOND.
That “II” next to my name carries a lot of meaning to me.
I am named after my dad, who I am lucky to celebrate fathers day with this weekend.
I’ve picked up a lot from my dad over the years, here are the 3 traits that stick out:
1) His entrepreneurial spirit.
My dad had his own landscaping, snow-plow, firewood, taxidermy, and automotive businesses.
I can count on one hand how many times I saw my dad in a suit growing up.
He always had his own side-hustle, or personal project he was working on. He is the definition of an entrepreneur at heart.
2.) His integrity.
My dad is one of the most honest and fair people I have ever known. He instilled in me at an early age to always do the right thing, and never to lie about it.
This is why if you know me, you’ll know I am incapable of lying.
3.) His loyalty.
My dad’s still best friends with the same group of guys he went to middle school with. They call themselves, “The Fellas.”
He values his friends and his family to the highest degree, and would always be there for anyone he knows would do the same.
I’m also best friends with the same guys I met playing Little League baseball as a kid.
I’ve always been very proud of the friends and people I surround myself with, and I know I have my dad’s influence to thank for that.
